The mission of the Quilts of Valor (QOV's) Foundation is to cover all war wounded and injured service members and veterans from the War on Terror, whether physical or psychological wounds, with wartime quilts. This foundation is not about politics. It's about people.

 

Nationwide totals from Catherine Roberts, QOV Founder: 26,125 Quilts of Valor have been distributed as of Janurary 2010.

Very generous people donate pieced quilt tops, backs, batting, binding and a pillow case to QOV. QOV then looks for a longarm quilter to quilt the donated top. This is where Quilt Yourself comes in; any certified quilters can quilt a Quilt of Valor as practice on our longarms.
We allow two to three hours of free time to become familiarized with the longarm and its software. Then the quilter takes the quilt home, adds the binding and brings it back. We turn the finished quilts into our QOV representative, who then presents it to a wounded soldier.
